Album Cover concept and Artwork, Packaging and Print Design
I love to design an album covers. They're one of my favorite projects to work on. Any designer will tell you, the margin for error on print projects is zero. But while some print project can often be ephemeral, like billboards or signage, an album cover is designed to last forever, somethng to be cherished, to be held in your hands and pored over again and again.
"Starved" by Mad Denizen is a concept album. I created the concept and artwork for the vinyl record LP album cover. I wanted this album cover to be worth a thousand words. The image is a composite composed of two different woodcut etchings from the 18th century. The atmosphere is cold and gray. One crow scrambles in the dust, scrounging for something to eat while the other looks ominously over his shoulder toward the towering, impenetrable castle in the distance.
